In Need of Good News and Smiles

I'm in search of good news and things to smile about. Not that my baby girls aren't enough to smile about, but for obvious reasons it's just a really hard thing to do right now.

That changed just a few minutes ago when I received an email from our niece telling us that they are leaving two weeks from today for Ethiopia. Yes, our great nephew, Tsegaw is coming home soon and that makes me smile. His daddy is really smiling since he'll have his son for Father's Day.

Lili and I had a brief conversation about baby Tsegaw this afternoon. It went something like this.

Mommy: Do you know who Tsegaw's mommy and daddy are?
Lili: Um
Mommy: Lauren and Dave
Lili: Tsegaw loves Lili. Tsegaw loves daddy. Tsegaw loves mommy. Tsegaw loves Lili.

Apparently, Tsegaw really loves Lili :-)

Naomi is trying very hard to crawl. She gets on her hands and knees, rocks back and forth, and has actually picked up her hands and moved them forward a few times. She does have the army crawl down pat though and is now going from room to room. She can also go from laying on the floor to sitting, which she now does with ease.

If you have good news to share or something that you think will make me smile, please leave a comment. I need it more than ever right now.

That is so awesome about Tsegaw! What a wonderful Father's Day gift. I bet Naomi will be crawling in no time. Let me think of the happy news thing. I know there is some, I am just wiped out right now and not thinking clearly. Hugs to you.

Well, I don't know if it's a happy news thing necessarily, but it's pretty darn funny!

The other night I gave Ana a tissue in bed because she had a runny nose. About 20 minutes later she's yelling, "Help, mumma...it's stuck!" I go upstairs and she's telling me "Paper in my nose!" and there are pieces of tissue shredded all over her bed. She has apparently been stuffing pieces of tissue in her nose. I take a quick peek and tell her that there's nothing in her nose, don't worry and she goes back to bed. The next afternoon Ana comes to me whimpering with her nose up in the air for me to see up it. You guessed it....I pulled a piece of paper the size of a dime out of her right nostril! This child will make me drink, I swear!

Debbie, here are snippets of good and funny news from our house:

Julia and Cecilia have started to Tango with each other every morning. Julia learned to tango in school and she has taught Cecilia how to. Which works well, except they keep running each other into walls.

Its almost the end of the week, the end of the school year.

My fabulous husband told the girls that when they toot they have ducks in their pants. Amalia (20 months) keeps trying to pull Cecilia's pants off to see her "duck."

Its sidewalk chalk season.

My best invention, letting the girls paint with water on the concrete driveway has been an amazing project in laundry and excitement at our house.

You are a brillant mother that has lifted me out of many dark days.

You are on my list of top 5 people from the blogging world to meet one day.

love and hugs,
nora

Jack and I went over to an older couples home the other day. They were babysitting their brand new granddaughter. So I went over and took a look, of course I made over her and oooed and awwwed at how cute she was and they just beemed with pride.
I said "Jack sweetie, come here and look at the precious baby girl."
Jackson strutted over, looked down and said "ewwwwwwwwww"
EEEEEGAAAAADDDDSSS!!!!!
I'm not sure, is that funny or just sad for us or worse, the grandparents!?!?!?

I thought of a few things that make me smile...

Joshua keeps telling me I am a "cutie". Except it comes out as "tootie". I think he has gotten into trouble at daycare for saying it though because they don't understand it!

Lauren told me today she has a way with little kids. The funny thing is that she really does!

I took Hunter to the new student orientation at the middle school he will attend next year. I was an emotional wreck. He is beyond excited about all of the possibilities, like clubs. He can't wait to join "FCS" which is "Fellowship of Christian Students". They apparently serve donuts...

When people ask Maria what color her skin is, she replies "purple". I have told her it was a beautiful brown, but she insists it really is purple. She knows her colors, so I guess that she has her own reality...

I thought of you tonight. We had an adoptive family gathering nearby. Almost all of the families had adopted from Ethiopia. One had a little girl that reminded me of Naomi.

I have 10 days left of school. Then I get to visit Vegas for the first time on a weekend getaway with my man.

Hugs to you!

Debbie,
Sorry to hear of the tragedy in your family. And so glad to hear about Tsegaw joining your extended family. My parents fell so in love with our daughter Nyah from Ethiopia that they decided to take a leap of faith and adopt an older waiting child from Ethiopia! And they are in their mid-fifties. Bethlehem should be home by Christmas. I can't believe I will have a daughter and sister from Ethiopia. God is amazing :)

Okay, here's one..my kids were out playing in the sprinkler today, so I thought I would video tape, etc...so one of my boys decided to go sit on the sprinkler..I asked him if that was really necessary, to which my hubby replied...on video..."It's the only way he keeps his butt clean!" Yeah, that's all I got.....:)
